I don´t have to prove myself in another league – Lewandowski sees no reason to leave Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski believes he can continue improving with age and does not feel the need to prove himself in another league outside of the Bundesliga.

The Poland international was speaking on Tuesday after collecting the European Golden Shoe award as the continent s top-scoring player in the 2020-21 campaign.

Lewandowski scored an incredible 41 goals in 29 Bundesliga games to surpass Gerd Muller s record for the most goals scored in a single German top-flight season.

That was 11 goals more than Lionel Messi managed in his final LaLiga season with Barcelona and 12 more than Cristiano Ronaldo scored in Serie A for then-club Juventus.

Reigning UEFA and FIFA Player of the Year Lewandowski only failed to score in four of his 29 top-fligh…

Guardiola ´in love´ with PSG star Verratti as Man City boss hails uncontrollable Messi

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said he is in love with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, while he also lavished Lionel Messi in praise after his side lost in the Champions League.

Messi scored his first goal for PSG after Idrissa Gueye s opening-half breakthrough in Tuesday s 2-0 victory over City in the French capital.

While Messi stole the headlines with his stunning 74th-minute goal, Guardiola heaped praise on Verratti – who helped Italy win Euro 2020 before the start of the season.

I m in love, Guardiola told reporters post-match. He s an exceptional player because he s under pressure and has the calmness to take on extra touch and in that moment create extra passes behind our midfield players.

I know the character and personal…

Ismail Aissati nearing Russia switch

Antalyaspor midfielder Ismael Aissati could be on his way to Russia, .

Aissati, 24, has managed to kick-start his career in Turkey following several disappointing years at Ajax and has seen his name linked with a number of Russian Premier League clubs.

Voetbal International understands that Spartak Moscow, Lokomotiv Moscow and Terek Grozny are all showing interest to sign the player in the winter transfer window.

Russian clubs have until 27th February to sign new players, and the player’s representative confirms a move to Russia is a realistic possibility.

“We expect that the interest will become concrete this week,” agent Aleksandar Bursac told Voetbal International.

“Ismail himself certainly has nothing against a move to Russia.”

Michael Olise – Where next?

Given the level of some of his performances this season, it feels somewhat strange to say Crystal Palace paid less than €10 million to sign Michael Olise from Reading three years ago. It has certainly proven a bargain signing for the Eagles, who will possibly cash in five or six times as much for his services this summer.

When great Premier League wingers today are discussed, the left-footed ones who predominantly play on the right, the name of Mohamed Salah rightly stands out, and there are much younger ones, like Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka, who also deserve to be in such conversations. However, at the age of 22, Olise is arguably right up there with the latter two, even though he hasn t yet had the chance to prove his quality on the great stage that Champions League footbal…

Puyol: Ballon d´Or favourite Messi still improving

Former Barcelona captain Carles Puyol says Lionel Messi continues to get better and has backed him to win his fifth Ballon d Or next week.

The four-time winner is a firm favourite to lift the 2015 prize at Monday s gala in Zurich ahead of team-mate Neymar and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Puyol says the Argentina captain remains a cut above the rest in global football and is amazed at the hunger he has to continue to win titles despite his glittering career to date.

He told Omnisport: I don t know who s going to win. In my opinion, Leo Messi is the one who deserves it. He s the best in the world and in history probably.

He gets better every day, he is still growing, he is still hungry, which is very important, and I think he s going to win his fift…

Elneny much more than a destroyer, says former Egypt boss Bradley

Former Egypt coach Bob Bradley believes Mohamed Elneny s versatility could make him a hit for Arsenal in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old completed a move to the Emirates Stadium from Basel earlier this month and could make his debut for the Gunners in Sunday s clash with Chelsea.

Elneny fulfilled a variety of midfield roles during his spell with the Swiss champions and Bradley, who coached him at international level between 2011 and 2013, says the former Al Ahly trainee will offer much more than tough tackling for Arsene Wenger s side.

He is an all-round midfielder capable of playing different roles,  Bradley told NBC Sports  Pro Soccer Talk. He reads the game, he moves well and he can play a little bit deeper.

He s an all-round midfielder who …

Sule seeks responsibility at remodelled Bayern Munich

Niklas Sule believes he is ready to become a leader in his third season at an increasingly youthful Bayern Munich.

Bundesliga champions Bayern have been drained of experience since the end of last term, having lost Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Rafinha and Mats Hummels.

The latter s departure for Borussia Dortmund is set to place even more expectation upon centre-back Sule s shoulders.

Used more often than Hummels and Jerome Boateng last season, the 23-year-old will begin the new campaign as a first-choice in his position and with the responsibility of building a new defence alongside Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez.

The Germany international views the changes around him as an opportunity, not a burden.

I want to take more responsibility, pla…
